How many cows are in the desert? Molecular phylogeny and species delimitation of the genus Gyriosomus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Pimeliinae) from the Atacama Desert

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
The newly systematic rearrangement of Gyriosomus recognizes 9 clades, validates 21 taxonomical species and suggests 12 synonyms and 12 species candidates. Three taxonomical species were not evaluated. Polymorphisms, convergences and crypsis have been detected, and therefore morphology‐based taxonomy should be approached with caution. Ecological drivers

Commodity risk assessment of oak and walnut logs from the US

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The European Commission submitted to the EFSA Panel on Plant Health a Dossier from the United States proposing the use of a vacuum–steam–heat treatment as a stand‐alone phytosanitary measure to mitigate the risk of entry of Bretziella fagacearum, Geosmithia morbida and its vector Pityophthorus juglandis (thousand cankers disease complex) into ...

Fermentation Optimization of Ergosta‐4,6,8(14),22‐Tetraen‐3‐One From Aspergillus oryzae and Its Anti‐Inflammatory Mechanism via Multi‐Pathway Inhibition of MyD88/NF‐κB/MAPK/NLRP3 Signaling

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study identified ergosta‐4,6,8(14),22‐tetraen‐3‐one (ETO) as a major anti‐inflammatory compound in Aspergillus oryzae and optimized fermentation conditions (glycerol and N‐acetylglucosamine as carbon/nitrogen sources) to enhance ETO yield. ETO suppressed IL‐6, IL‐1β, and TNF‐α in LPS‐stimulated macrophages by inhibiting the MyD88/NF‐κB/MAPK/NLRP3 ...

El colgajo fasciocutáneo en cono [PDF]

open access: yesRevista chilena de cirugía, 2009
Use of a new cone shaped flap to cover skin defects. Experience in 108 patients Background: A new type of fasciocutaneous flap with the shape of an ice cream cone that is formed by locally rotated and V-Y advance flaps joined together, that can be used to cover complex defects, was developed. Previously, the irrigation of these flaps was ascertained in

Climatically suitable areas for Hylobius abietis and Hylobius pales: a global and regional analysis considering economic risks for pine production

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 12, Page 8477-8486, December 2025.
Climate suitability maps indicate a high economic risk for Pinus‐producing municipalities in Brazil if Hylobius abietis and Hylobius pales invade, highlighting the need for preventive measures. Abstract BACKGROUND The weevils Hylobius abietis and Hylobius pales are major pests of pine species within their native ranges.

Molecular phylogeny, genome sizes and chromosome numbers in melic grasses and its relatives (Pooideae, Poaceae) with a revised classification of the genus Melica

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 74, Issue 6, Page 1421-1437, December 2025.
Abstract The genus Melica comprises around 90 species, which are widespread throughout the temperate and subtropical regions of the world. In contrast to numerous species complexes in the grass subfamily Pooideae, the genus Melica forms a very homogeneous group of mainly diploid species with a uniform basic chromosome number of x = 9.
