How many cows are in the desert? Molecular phylogeny and species delimitation of the genus Gyriosomus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Pimeliinae) from the Atacama Desert

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
The newly systematic rearrangement of Gyriosomus recognizes 9 clades, validates 21 taxonomical species and suggests 12 synonyms and 12 species candidates. Three taxonomical species were not evaluated. Polymorphisms, convergences and crypsis have been detected, and therefore morphology‐based taxonomy should be approached with caution. Ecological drivers

Fermentation Optimization of Ergosta‐4,6,8(14),22‐Tetraen‐3‐One From Aspergillus oryzae and Its Anti‐Inflammatory Mechanism via Multi‐Pathway Inhibition of MyD88/NF‐κB/MAPK/NLRP3 Signaling

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study identified ergosta‐4,6,8(14),22‐tetraen‐3‐one (ETO) as a major anti‐inflammatory compound in Aspergillus oryzae and optimized fermentation conditions (glycerol and N‐acetylglucosamine as carbon/nitrogen sources) to enhance ETO yield. ETO suppressed IL‐6, IL‐1β, and TNF‐α in LPS‐stimulated macrophages by inhibiting the MyD88/NF‐κB/MAPK/NLRP3 ...
