Randomized controlled trial of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation for pain relief during transvaginal oocyte retrieval using conscious sedation: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2019
Background Transvaginal oocytes retrieval is an essential step in in-vitro fertilization treatment. There are different pain relief methods, but none has been shown to be superior than the others.

Bone construction surgery: A case report using recombinant human platelet‐derived growth factor‐BB

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 262-269, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background The position and condition of bone largely sets the stage for functional and esthetic implant success. In bone construction surgery, creating a sustainable functional matrix is complex, but necessary, to enable long‐term mechanotransduction and maintenance of soft tissue support.

General anesthesia or conscious sedation in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation catheter ablation

open access: yesBiomedical Papers, 2021
Background. Catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) can be performed under general anesthesia or conscious sedation. The influence of type of anesthesiology care on procedural characteristics and ablation outcome in patients in whom ...

Pain Detection in Masked Faces during Procedural Sedation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Pain monitoring is essential to the quality of care for patients undergoing a medical procedure with sedation. An automated mechanism for detecting pain could improve sedation dose titration. Previous studies on facial pain detection have shown the viability of computer vision methods in detecting pain in unoccluded faces.

Conscious sedation for dentistry: an update [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Dental Journal, 2007
Despite its excellent safety record there remains disquiet about the provision of conscious sedation for dental care. This applies particularly to the use of 'alternative' sedation techniques which extend beyond the 'standard' techniques (intravenous midazolam for adults and nitrous oxide/oxygen) described in Conscious sedation in the provision of ...

Evaluation of factors associated with selection for coronary angiography and in‐hospital mortality among patients presenting with out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest without ST‐segment elevation

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 100, Issue 7, Page 1159-1170, December 1, 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Clinical factors favouring coronary angiography (CA) selection and variables associated with in‐hospital mortality among patients presenting with out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) without ST‐segment elevation (STE) remain unclear.

An approach for minimal surface family passing a curve [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate minimal surfaces passing a given curve in $R^{3}$. Using the Frenet frame of a given curve and isothermal parameter, we derive the necessary and sufficient condition for minimal surface. Also we derive the parametric representation of two minimal surface families passing a circle and a helix as examples.

Effect of Oral Ondansetron on Vomiting Associated with Intramuscular Ketamine Sedation in Children: A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Emergency Medicine Journal, 2014
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of oral ondansetron on the incidence of vomiting in children who receive intramuscular (IM) ketamine for procedural sedation and analgesia in the emergency department (ED).

Conscious Sedation For In Vitro Fertilization

open access: yesFertility and Sterility, 1998
To review the principles and practice of the use of conscious sedation for IVF.The pertinent literature was reviewed and recommendations are provided.Conscious sedation appears to be the most commonly used method of pain relief for transvaginal retrieval of oocytes. Conscious sedation does not require the presence of an anesthesiologist and can be done
