Opioids and Respiratory Related Consequences

Sleep Medicine Clinics
Opioids are widely used in acute and chronic pain management, but have significant respiratory effects that pose risks, especially in hospital settings. Opioid-induced respiratory depression occurs with opioids suppress the body's respiratory rate and response to CO2, leading to life-threatening gas exchange impairment.

Consequences of assuming a universal relation

ACM Transactions on Database Systems, 1981
Although central to the current direction of dependency theory, the assumption of a universal relation is incompatible with some aspects of relational database theory and practice. Furthermore, the universal relation is itself ill defined in some important ways. And, under the universal relation assumption, the decomposition approach to database design

Fixed Points for Consequence Relations

Logique et Analyse, 2014
This paper provides a way of dealing with paradoxes associated with consequence relations via a generalisation of Kripke's fixed point technique. In particular, we focus on Beall and Murzi's paradox, although the framework outlined should have more general application.

The Second Riddell Relation and Its Consequences

Journal of Applied and Industrial Mathematics, 2018
Summary: The second Riddell relation relates the generating functions for the number of labeled connected graphs and the number of labeled blocks. We consider the conditions under which this relation is true for a subclass of connected graphs. Under these conditions, the formulas are valid that express the number of graphs from a subclass of labeled ...

Age-Related Consequences of Childhood Obesity

Gerontology, 2014
The severity and frequency of childhood obesity has increased significantly over the past three to four decades. The health effects of increased body mass index as a child may significantly impact obese youth as they age. However, many of the long-term outcomes of childhood obesity have yet to be studied.

Extension of PDL and consequence relations

1985
Most of the deduction algorithms are of the form of regular expressions. To investigate some properties of these deductions we introduce an extension of PDL with propositional constants and infinite conjunctions and disjunctions. We treat the formulas of the object logical language for which the deductions are as propositional variables, the sets of ...

On the Relation Between Default and Modal Consequence Relations

1994
The notion of a default consequence relation is introduced as a generalization of both default and modal formalizations of nonmonotonic reasoning. It is used to study a general problem of correspondence between these two formalisms. As is shown, in many cases each of them can be translated into the other.
