Emerging threats and persistent conservation challenges for freshwater biodiversity

open access: yesBiological Reviews of The Cambridge Philosophical Society, 2018
In the 12 years since Dudgeon et al. (2006) reviewed major pressures on freshwater ecosystems, the biodiversity crisis in the world's lakes, reservoirs, rivers, streams and wetlands has deepened.

Nonequilibrium physics in integrable systems and spin-flip non-invariant conserved quantities [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, Volume 53 Number 13 (2020), Special Issue Paper, 2020
Recently found spin-flip non-invariant (SFNI) conserved quantities play important roles in discussing nonequilibrium physics of the XXZ model. The representative examples are the generalized Gibbs ensemble (GGE) and the ballistic transport of the spin current.

Numerical Methods for Conservation Laws: From Analysis to Algorithms

open access: yes, 2017
The modeling of many problems in the applied sciences and engineering is based on concepts of conservation of mass, momentum and energy, leading to systems of conservation laws.

Is the kinetome conserved? [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Systems Biology, 2022
Computational biologists have labored for decades to produce kinetic models to mechanistically explain complex metabolic phenomena. The estimation of numerical values for the large number of kinetic parameters required for constructing large-scale models has been a major challenge.

Mineralogical and Spectroscopic Characterization of Some Products Resulting from the Weathering Process on the Tomb of Nakht-Djehuty (TT189), Western Thebes, Upper Egypt

open access: yesConservation Science in Cultural Heritage, 2010
The present study deals with the mineralogical and spectroscopic characterization of some weathering products formed on the  decorated surfaces of the tomb of Nakht-Djehuty (TT189), during the time of Ramesses II (the 19th Dynasty, c.1279-1213 BC ...

Gravitational coupling to two-particle bound states and momentum conservation in deep inelastic scattering [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D61:114023,2000, 1999
The momentum conservation sum rule for deep inelastic scattering (DIS) from composite particles is investigated using the general theory of relativity. For two 1+1 dimensional examples, it shown that covariant theories automatically satisy the DIS momentum conservation sum rule provided the bound state is covariantilly normalized.
