A Thermodynamic Test for the Internal Consistency of Experimental Data on Volatility Ratios

Nature, 1947
An important measurable parameter in the study of vapour-liquid equilibria in two-phase binary mixtures is the volatility ratio (α) defined by N1g.N2/N1.N2g, where N1g is the mol fraction of component 1 in the vapour and N2 that of component 2, while N1 and N2 are the corresponding quantities for the liquid.

Consistency of Ozone and Nitrogen Oxides Standards at Tropospherically Relevant Mixing Ratios

Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association, 2005
The absolute accuracy and long-term precision of atmospheric measurements hinge on the quality of the instrumentation and calibration standards. To assess the consistency of the ozone (O3) and nitrogen oxides (NO(x)) standards maintained at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), these standards were compared through the gas-phase ...

The Consistency of MDL for Linear Regression Models With Increasing Signal-to-Noise Ratio

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2012
Recent work by Ding and Kay has demonstrated that the Bayesian information criterion (BIC) is an inconsistent estimator of model order in nested model selection as the noise variance τ*→ 0. Unfortunately, Ding and Kay have erroneously concluded that the minimum description length (MDL) principle also leads to inconsistent estimates of model order in ...

Study of cobalt dispersion on titania consisting various rutile:anatase ratios

Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2005
Abstract The number of reduced cobalt metal surface atoms in Co/TiO 2 was found to increase with the presence of rutile phase. It was suggested that the increased number of reduced cobalt metal surface atoms be attributed to highly dispersed cobalt oxide species as seen by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) technique.

The strong consistency for maximum likelihood estimates: a proof not based on the likelihood ratio

Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences - Series I - Mathematics, 2000
Summary: The strong consistency for maximum likelihood estimates is here studied following a method which differs consistently from the famous proof given by \textit{A. Wald} [Ann. Math. Stat. 20, 595-601 (1949; Zbl 0034.22902)] and based on the likelihood ratio. Adopting an assumptions setting with a slight modification with respect to Wald, the proof

The Sharpe Stability Ratio: Temporal Consistency of Risk-Adjusted Performance

This paper introduces the Sharpe Stability Ratio (SSR), a performance metric that evaluates the temporal consistency of risk-adjusted returns. While the Sharpe ratio (SR) summarizes average excess return per unit of risk over a fixed sample, it cannot distinguish persistent skill from episodic outperformance: two strategies may display identical ex ...
