Phase Angle as an Early Functional Biomarker of Cancer‐Related Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low‐and middle‐income countries. Cancer treatment may impair nutritional status, alter body composition, and exacerbate cancer‐related fatigue (CRF).

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Marked aggravation of pyrethroid resistance in major malaria vectors in Malawi between 2014 and 2021 is partly linked with increased expression of P450 alleles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
BACKGROUND: Increased intensity of pyrethroid resistance is threatening the effectiveness of insecticide-based interventions to control malaria in Africa.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Characterizations of Consistent Marked Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A marked graph is a graph with a + or - sign on each vertex and is called consistent if each cycle has an even number of - signs. This concept is motivated by problems of communication networks and social networks.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Early responses of breast cancer cells to gefitinib. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
(A) MCF7-GFPLC3 cells treated for 3 h with vehicle (0 µM gefitinib) or indicated doses of gefitinib. Average GFPLC3, lysotracker red (LTR) and MDC TOA per cell (top graph) and the average distance between GFPLC3, LTR or MDC-labeled organelles (puncta ...

Cross-attention-guided subject-adaptive graph learning for multimodal autism classification: integrating structural and functional MRI data

open access: yesBrain Informatics
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition marked by structural atypicality and abnormal functional connectivity. It remains challenging to accurately delineate an ASD-associated neural marker due to individual heterogeneity

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Characterization of NK1-R expression and internalization in the spinal dorsal horn. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Spinal dorsal horn NK1-R internalization was uniformly counted for expression and internalization after IPLT formalin injection. A) Representative confocal image of mouse dorsal horns ipsilateral and contralateral to the site of formalin injection ...
