A pole-zero-tracking constant modulus algorithm

International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
An approach to multipath correction in FM transmission is proposed. It is based on the factorization of the channel transfer function in terms of the roots of the underlying polynomial. A time-recursive algorithm for the identification of the roots of the all-zero channel transfer function at the receiver is presented.

Noise capture properties of the constant modulus algorithm

ICASSP '85. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
In communication applications, the Constant Modulus Algorithm has proven an effective means for adjusting coefficients of an adaptive filter. However, under certain conditions, it may generate a response that discriminates against the signal component in a preference for broadband noise for sustained periods.

A signal processing algorithm for multi-constant modulus equalization

2013 36th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2013
This work introduces an adaptive equalizer, namely the multi-constant modulus algorithm (MCMA), for blind equalization of QAM signals. The novelty of our approach is to combine, by means of its new cost function, the fast convergence performance of the constant modulus algorithm (CMA), as well as the ability of joint blind equalization and carrier ...

ADMM-based transmit beampattern synthesis for antenna arrays under a constant modulus constraint

Signal Processing, 2020
Transmit beampattern synthesis for antenna arrays is addressed in this paper. In pursuit of high radiation efficiency, most phased array radar systems utilize nonlinear power amplifiers, which leads to a constant modulus constraint for transmit weight ...

Fast constant modulus adaptive algorithm

IEE Proceedings F Radar and Signal Processing, 1991
An exact block formulation of the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) is presented, in which a reduction of arithmetic complexity is achieved. Two types of fast algorithms are explained, either in time-domain or in frequencydomain. The first one is of greater interest for small block lengths and the second one, using the FFT as an intermediate step, has ...

Error surfaces of the constant modulus algorithm

IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
The authors derive closed-form expressions for the performance function of the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) that are based on two different Gaussian assumptions, and they present examples of the corresponding error surfaces for a binary transmitted signal.

On improving the convergence of constant modulus algorithm adaptive filters

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993
An FIR (finite impulse response) communications channel is considered. Two computationally simple algorithms are proposed for globally convergent, linear estimation of the FIR channel parameters where the FIR model order is not necessarily known. The estimated channel impulse response is used to derive a reliable initialization for the CMA (constant ...

Initialising constant modulus algorithm for smart antenna applications

ISSPA '99. Proceedings of the Fifth International Symposium on Signal Processing and its Applications (IEEE Cat. No.99EX359), 2003
This paper investigates the application of constant modulus algorithms (CMA) for blind interference suppression and signal estimation via smart antennas. The convergence analysis, including convergence condition, error function shape, the effects of initial condition and "lock and capture" behaviour are investigated via both theoretical analysis and ...

Sufficient conditions for the local convergence of constant modulus algorithms

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2000
The constant modulus (CM) criterion has become popular in the design of blind linear estimators of sub-Gaussian i.i.d. processes transmitted through unknown linear channels in the presence of unknown additive interference. The existence of multiple CM minima, however, makes it difficult for CM-minimizing schemes to generate estimates of the desired ...
