Automating Ecological and Fisheries Modelling With Agentic AI

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 27, Issue 3, Page 726-739, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Fisheries modelling requires specialist training, but the availability of suitably skilled modellers is limiting delivery of science to inform management. Agentic AI can automate computing workflows and will increasingly be used in ecological modelling.

POISONOUS IMAGES: Taranto's Environmental Crisis between the Visible and the Invisible

open access: yesCultural Anthropology, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 247-274, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article explores poisonous images—images that both register and trouble the visibility of toxicity in Taranto, Italy, one of Europe's most polluted cities due to the continent's largest steel factory. Centered on photographs taken in the city's contaminated cemetery, the essay asks how slow violence can be apprehended ethnographically ...

An In‐Depth Characterization of Page Fault Handling in Modern Persistent Memory Systems

open access: yesConcurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, Volume 38, Issue 7, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent advancements in Persistent Memory (PM) technologies have enabled the integration of such devices directly into the processor's memory hierarchy, allowing them to be accessed via standard load/store instructions. These developments have revived interest in the design and implementation of systems capable of effectively supporting PM.

Hierarchical Language Models for Semantic Navigation and Manipulation in an Aerial‐Ground Robotic System

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
A hierarchical multimodal framework coupling a large language model for task decomposition and semantic mapping with a fine‐tuned vision‐language model for semantic perception, enhanced by GridMask, is presented. An aerial‐ground robot team exploits the semantic map for global and local planning.

Recent Advances in Hybrid, Plug‐In, Battery, and Fuel Cell EVs: Control Schemes, Modes, Converter Topologies, and Pros and Cons

open access: yesIET Electrical Systems in Transportation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Direct current (DC)–DC converters are the backbone of electric vehicle (EV) power trains, enabling efficient and bidirectional energy flow between the battery, high‐voltage (HV) DC link, and auxiliary rails under tight isolation, gain, ripple, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) constraints.

CA‐PPO: Collision‐Aware Reinforcement Learning for Grant‐Free NOMA in Wireless Federated Learning

open access: yesIET Networks, Volume 15, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a collision‐aware proximal policy optimisation (CA‐PPO) framework for joint clustering and power allocation in grant‐free NOMA–enabled wireless federated learning systems. By explicitly accounting for random access collisions, SIC decoding failures and energy–latency constraints, the proposed approach stabilises learning under ...
