Transport of Indirect Excitons in a Potential Energy Gradient [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We realized a potential energy gradient - a ramp - for indirect excitons using a shaped electrode at constant voltage. We studied transport of indirect excitons along the ramp and observed that the exciton transport distance increases with increasing ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Rates and equilibria at the acetylcholine receptor of electrophorus electroplaques. A study of neurally evoked postsynaptic currents and of voltage-jump relaxations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Kinetic measurements are employed to reconstruct the steady-state activation of acetylcholine [Ach] receptor channels in electrophorus electroplaques. Neurally evoked postsynaptic currents (PSCs) decay exponentially; at 15°C the rate constant, α, equals ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Seven Level Voltage Source Converter Based Static Synchronous Compensator with a Constant DC-Link Voltage

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) controllers are important to enhance the quality of power in power systems. The stability of a system is achieved via a FACTS device (a Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM)). This paper aims to

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Constant-amplitude RC oscillator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Sinusoidal oscillator has a frequency determined by resistance-capacitance /RC/ values of two charge control devices and a constant-amplitude voltage independent of frequency and RC values.
