Rapid Corrosion Testing of Polymer Coated Steel Using a Constant Voltage

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2015
An alternative to accelerated corrosion performance evaluation, e.g. neutral salt spray test (NSS), is proposed by applying a constant voltage in a corrosive media.

Variable speed constant frequency constant voltage alternator. Annual report [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
A test alternator is operated with digital control of its output frequency for variable shaft speed. The machine is a two-pole alternator with power removed through slip rings. The output frequency of the alternator is controlled by rotating the field by stepping through sixteen coils around the rotor. Usually four coils are active at one time.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Dynamic Voltage Restorer to Maintain Constant Voltage at Load

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract This paper is used for decrease the power quality problems in electrical distribution. Sometimes potential is not stable so it causes potential disturbances in power system then it produces harmonics in the system. Therefore, this gained with a concept called DVR.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

A micromachined flow shear-stress sensor based on thermal transfer principles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Microhot-film shear-stress sensors have been developed by using surface micromachining techniques. The sensor consists of a suspended silicon-nitride diaphragm located on top of a vacuum-sealed cavity.

Linear Approximations to AC Power Flow in Rectangular Coordinates

open access: yes, 2015
This paper explores solutions to linearized powerflow equations with bus-voltage phasors represented in rectangular coordinates. The key idea is to solve for complex-valued perturbations around a nominal voltage profile from a set of linear equations ...
