Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Creep Behavior in Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy (DGEBA) Composites [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2013
The composite material was prepared by reinforcing the epoxy with E-glass fiber. The creep and flextural test were measured in this work for one and two layer of E-glass fiber with volume fraction rate of (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) in orientation of (0-90o)

Small Volume Bodies of Constant Width

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices
Abstract For every large enough $n$, we explicitly construct a body of constant width $2$ that has volume less than $0.9^{n} \textrm{Vol}(\mathbb{B}^{n}$), where ${{\mathbb{B}}}^{n}$ is the unit ball in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. This answers a question of O. Schramm.

Carbonization of Biomass in Constant-Volume Reactors

open access: yesEnergy & Fuels, 2017
A novel carbonization process that realizes near-theoretical fixed-carbon yields in ~3 h is presented. Norwegian spruce and birch sawdusts were carbonized in a hermetically-sealed reactor at an initial nitrogen pressure of 0.1 MPa. During a carbonization test, the reactor vessel retained all pyrolytic products inside the hot reaction zone invoking high

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Toolpath Generation on 3-Axes Milling Using Constant Volume Method

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering
A new simple method to generate toolpaths when machining based on the fixed base of the residual metal portion left after each longitudinal (forward step) and transverse cutting step (stepover) is presented in this paper.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Investigation of Flame Characteristics of Ethanol-Gasoline Blends Combustion Using Constant Volume Chamber

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
The stricter on emission legislation and growing demands for lower fuel consumption require significant efforts to improve combustion efficiency while satisfying the demand of emission quality.
