Background Position-effect variegation (PEV) is the stochastic transcriptional silencing of a gene positioned adjacent to heterochromatin. white-mottled X-chromosomal inversions in Drosophila are classic PEV models that show variegation of the eye color ...

Management of T‐cell malignancies: Bench‐to‐bedside targeting of epigenetic biology
Abstract The peripheral T‐cell lymphomas (PTCL) are the only disease for which four histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors have been approved globally as single agents. Although it is not clear why the PTCL exhibit such a vulnerability to these drugs, understanding the biological basis for this activity is essential.

Satellite DNA sites in four species of the genus Astyanax (Teleostei, Characiformes)
Cytogenetic data about satellite DNA distribution in four Astyanax species (Characidae) from the Paraitinga river, Paraíba do Sul river basin, Brazil, are presented. In order to characterize the constitutive heterochromatin, C-banding, chromomycin A3 and

ABSTRACT This review provides a comprehensive overview of the role of G9a/EHMT2, focusing on its structure and exploring the impact of its pharmacological and/or gene inhibition in various neurological diseases. In addition, we delve into the advancements in the design and synthesis of G9a/EHMT2 inhibitors, which hold promise not only as a treatment ...

A Solution Set-Based Entropy Principle for Constitutive Modeling in Mechanics [PDF]
Entropy principles based on thermodynamic consistency requirements are widely used for constitutive modeling in continuum mechanics, providing physical constraints on a priori unknown constitutive functions. The well-known M\"uller-Liu procedure is based on Liu's lemma for linear systems.

The significance of PAX5 in Merkel cell carcinoma
Abstract Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a highly malignant skin cancer that expresses epithelial‐, neuroendocrine‐, and lymphoid‐associated genes. Here, we focused on B‐cell differentiation, which is characterised by the coexpression of PAX5 and TdT. PAX5 is the master regulator of B‐cell commitment and is expressed in 65% of MCC cases.

The epigenome of evolving Drosophila neo-sex chromosomes: dosage compensation and heterochromatin formation [PDF]
Drosophila Y chromosomes are composed entirely of silent heterochromatin, while male X chromosomes have highly accessible chromatin and are hypertranscribed due to dosage compensation. Here, we dissect the molecular mechanisms and functional pressures driving heterochromatin formation and dosage compensation of the recently formed neo-sex chromosomes ...

Aerobic exercise improves transfer of healthy mitochondria from astrocytes to neurons in the 5 × FAD mice. Abstract Mitochondrial dysfunction is a well‐established hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Despite recent documentation of transcellular mitochondrial transfer, its role in the pathogenesis of AD remains unclear.

Changes in chromatin state in donors subjected to physical stress [PDF]
The purpose of the present study is to evaluate changes in chromatin of human buccal epithelium under the influence of stressing factor - dosed physical activity. Investigations were performed in a group of students (13 men) of age 19-23. Cells were stained on a slide by a 2% orcein solution in 45% acetic acid during 1 h.
