Location of ribosomal genes in the chromosomes of Anopheles darlingi and Anopheles nuneztovari (Diptera, Culicidae) from the Brazilian Amazon

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2003
Fluorescence in situ hybridization of Anopheles darlingi and A. nuneztovari demonstrated nucleolar organizer region activity at the end of the fourth larval instar, when the nucleolar organizer regions underwent gradual condensation.

Active Hydrodynamic Theory of Euchromatin and Heterochromatin [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The genome contains genetic information essential for cell's life. The genome's spatial organization inside the cell nucleus is critical for its proper function including gene regulation. The two major genomic compartments -- euchromatin and heterochromatin -- contain largely transcriptionally active and silenced genes, respectively, and exhibit ...

Consequences of Lamin B1 and Lamin B Receptor Downregulation in Senescence

open access: yesCells, 2018
Anchoring of heterochromatin to the nuclear envelope appears to be an important process ensuring the spatial organization of the chromatin structure and genome function in eukaryotic nuclei.

An iterative nonlocal residual constitutive model for nonlocal elasticity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Recently, it was claimed that the two-phase local/nonlocal constitutive models give well-posed nonlocal field problems and eliminates the ill-posedness of the fully nonlocal constitutive models. In this study, it is demonstrated that, both, the fully nonlocal and the two-phase local/nonlocal constitutive models secrete ill-posed nonlocal boundary value

DNA replication dynamics of vole genome and its epigenetic regulation

open access: yesEpigenetics & Chromatin, 2019
Background The genome of some vole rodents exhibit large blocks of heterochromatin coupled to their sex chromosomes. The DNA composition and transcriptional activity of these heterochromatin blocks have been studied, but little is known about their DNA ...

Chromosome mapping of 28S ribosomal genes in 11 species of Cassidinae (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2017
In this study, we examined for the first time the distribution of the 28S ribosomal genes in beetles of the subfamily Cassidinae. More than 55% of the species in this subfamily have a similar karyotype, 2n = 16 + Xyp.
