Computer Aided Design of Optimal Decentralized Controllers Under Control Path Constraints
Abstract A class of optimal control problems which is mainly characterized by a set of path constraints on the control variables is presented in this paper. After having transformed the original infinite set of constraints into a finite one, a solution of the stated problem is found by following a Parameter Optimization Approach.

Computer aided mixture design with specified property constraints
Abstract This paper presents an algorithm that determines the identity and composition of solvent mixtures with desirable properties and also ranks the mixtures with respect to cost. This is done by integrating optimization algorithms with computer-aided mixture design (CAMD).

Computer aided software design via inference and constraint propagation
Engineered systems, including computer programs, are mainly composed of versions of known components. We describe systems that produce computer software by composition and specialization of generic software components. The work of the human designer is reduced because components can infer or default many specifications, propagating them to connected ...

Computer-aided design using the method of cut-joint kinematic constraints
A method for automatically altering the geometry of mechanical parts due to a change in design parameters is presented. The formulation for computing the effects of changes in design parameters of mechanical parts and mechanisms is based upon kinematic criteria adopted from mathematical formulations used in multibody dynamics analyses.

Mechanical design and assembly planning inherently involve geometric constraint satisfaction or scene feasibility (GCS/SF) problems. Such problems imply the satisfaction of proposed relations placed between undefined geometric entities in a given scenario.

Computer aided molecular and mixture design with specified property constraints
Abstract A general methodology for computer aided molecular and mixture design with specified property constraints has been developed. This methodology decouples the problem of generation of molecular structures from the problem of determination of the optimal design.

A methodology and a tool for the computer aided design with constraints of electrical devices
A methodology for the computer aided constrained design of electrical devices is presented and validated through the design of a slotless permanent magnet structure. It is based on the use of the analytical design equations of the device. Symbolic calculation is widely used to generate an analysis program and a sensitivity computation program.

Computer-aided Design for Product Upgradability under Geometric Constraints
Long-life design for products is seen as a promising approach for improving the resource efficiency of their lifecycle. Implementing design to support upgradability allows products to be used for longer than conventional items, which may be abandoned because of functional obsolescence before the end of their physical life.

Constraint mechanisms for knowledge acquisition from computer-aided design data
A number of automated reasoning systems find their basis in process control engineering. These programs are often model-based and use individual frames to represent component functionality. This representation scheme allows the process system to be dynamically monitored and controlled as the reasoning system need only simulate the behavior of the ...
