Stability constraints used in computer-aided design of recursive digital filters
Some recent papers on digital filter design have been concerned with the use of unconstrained minimization techniques, such as the Fletcher-Powell algorithm, to optimize the design to a prescribed frequency domain description. This paper looks, in detail, into the use of two variable substitution methods to bound the poles and zeros of the filter for ...

A flexible computer aid for conceptual design based on constraint propagation and component-modeling
The Rubber Airplane program, which combines two symbolic processing techniques with a component-based database of design knowledge, is proposed as a computer aid for conceptual design. Using object-oriented programming, programs are organized around the objects and behavior to be simulated, and using constraint propagation, declarative statements ...

FLOWER - A System for Domain and Constraint Visualization in Computer-Aided Design
Abstract This paper explores visualization aids to an interactive intelligent design application. Visualization helps a designer explore data and information in order to gain greater understanding and insight into the design process. Several existing techniques taken from object-oriented expert systems, computer graphics and user interface ...

The problem of synthesis of power transmission shafts supported on two bearings, subject to dimensional, strength, and deflection constraints is posed as a nonlinear programming (NP) problem. The formulation of the design problem and its solution using the gradient projection (GP) algorithm are presented.

Modified Structural Constraints for Candidate Molecule Generation in Computer-Aided Molecular Design
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2018Computer-aided molecular design (CAMD) has attracted much attention in the past 30 years. The generation of a candidate molecular structure satisfying a set of structural constraints is an important part of such a problem. However, the commonly used structural constraints proposed by Odele and Macchietto [Odele, O.; Macchietto, S.

Computer-aided design on a perforated single-layer absorber under space constraints
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2006As investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in 1970, noise is highly responsible for the psychological and physiological illnesses of workers. Therefore, noise control for an enclosed manufacturing system using sound absorbers becomes indispensable.

Computer aided design of optimal regulators and filters with constraints
2005In this paper we present and discuss some recent results of the author [Ahmed 1,2,4,7] on the necessary conditions of optimality for linear regulators and filters with or without constraints on system parameters. The approach provides algorithms for optimizations directly on the space of operators giving optimal regulators and filters.
