The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Improving Transportation Construction Project Performance: Development of a Model to Support the Decision-Making Process for Incentive/Disincentive Construction Projects, MTI Report 09-07 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This research presents a project time and cost performance simulation model to assist project planners and managers by providing a complete picture during the Incentive/Disincentive (I/D) contracting decision-making process of possible performance ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Research on a 3D Predator-Prey Evolutionary System in Real Estate Market

open access: yesComplexity, 2018
This paper establishes a model on the upstream and downstream relationship among private enterprises, provincial and local officials, and the central government in the real estate market using the population ecology theory of mutual relations among ...

EVALUATION METHODS FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT, 2009
Financial evaluation methods such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) are not fully adequate for accounting three practical aspects of construction projects: reinvestment rate, actual amount of required investment, and firm available funds.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A Systematic Review on the Organizational Learning Potential of Building Information Modelling: Theoretical Foundations and Future Directions

open access: yesBuildings
Organizational learning refers to the systematic development, exchange and dissemination of knowledge throughout the organization. Organizational learning processes in construction are disrupted by the decentralized flow of information and the temporary,

General systems perspective on achieving continuous synergy in a project organisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Studies of construction labour productivity have revealed that limited predictability and multi-agent social complexity make long-range planning of construction projects extremely inaccurate.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Self-adaptive Adjustment of Shield Tunneling Parameters and Land Subsidence Control Based on Regional Geological Information

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective At present, it has become a trend that the method of machine learning is used to predict land subsidence. However, most of the land subsidence prediction models established based on geological parameters and shield tunneling parameters are ...
