We assess the ability of the Reuters/Michigan Surveys of Consumers to predict future changes in consumer expenditures. The information in the Surveys is summarized by means of principal components of consumer attitudes with respect to income and wealth, interest rates, and prices.

Consumers' Awareness and Attitude towards Repricing
Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, 1982Supermarkets have repriced products on their shelves upward for the past few years. Since this cannot be accepted as fair, a study was designed to determine consumers' awareness and attitudes. Findings revealed that the majority of respondents were aware of the repricing practice, considered it unfair, and wanted it controlled.
