Fretting Corrosion of Separable Electrical Contacts
IEEE Transactions on Components, Hybrids, and Manufacturing Technology, 1985The fretting corrosion of separable electrical contacts was studied with different base materials and coatings. The tests were performed on a device which simulates a circuit breaker's separable contact. A vibrator monitored by a microcomputer controlled the vibration amplitude and frequency. The normal contact force was also adjustable.

Contact lenses are a valuable addition to the methods of visual correction and can be used successfully in most cases if patients are properly fitted, instructed, and supervised. The majority of patients can be fitted with conventional hard lenses; soft lenses are preferred in special situations.

Simulation of Tapered Lasers with Separate Contacts
2007 Spanish Conference on Electron Devices, 2007A simulation model for tapered lasers with separated contacts has been developed. The model has been used to simulate 980 nm In-Ga-As devices with separated injection of the ridge-waveguide and taper sections. A good qualitative agreement with experimental results has been obtained.

Father—Child Contact After Separation
Journal of Family Issues, 2009Following divorce or separation, father—child contact is deemed an important influence on child development. Previous research has explored the impact of sociodemographic and attitudinal factors on the amount of contact between fathers and their children following a union dissolution. This article revisits this important question using fathers' reports

The separation of electrical domains from the contact
Solid State Communications, 1968Abstract The conditions for the separation of electrical high-field and low-field domains from the contact are investigated using the thermodynamic principle of minimum entropy production. Moving highfield domains cause current instabilities, the amplitude of which is given in this paper.

Mediated parent-child contact in work-separated families
Proceedings of the SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2011Parents and children in families living with regular separation due to work develop strategies to manage being apart. We interviewed 14 pairs of parents and children (ages 7 -- 13) from work-separated families to understand their experiences and the strategies that they use to keep their family together. Parents focus on combining scheduled synchronous

Investigating the temperatures of contact elements on separation
Journal of Engineering Physics, 1968Solutions are presented for the heat-conduction equations of the liquid-bridge-solid system which is set up on separation of electrical contacts. The conditions are given for the selection of contact materials to ensure minimum erosion of one of the electrodes.

Tibiofemoral Contact Biomechanics Following Meniscocapsular Separation and Repair
International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2015Meniscocapsular separations are often seen in knees with other intra-articular pathology. The consequences of these tears with regard to knee contact mechanics are currently unknown, and the biomechanical advantages of repair have not been measured. We hypothesize that tears to the meniscocapsular junction will cause an increase in tibiofemoral contact

Inter-group Contact and Separation in Schools
2016Fontana provides the first analysis of the nexus between education reform and the politics of power-sharing in societies emerging from civil war. This chapter shows that the peace agreements in Lebanon, Northern Ireland and Macedonia and subsequent education strategies implicitly endorsed the ‘contact hypothesis’.
