Validating contact angle algorithms for droplets in parallel-plate [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
Parallel-plate channels, defined as two closely spaced plates confining fluid motion, are widely used in microfluidics. Optical contact angle measurement techniques are particularly suited for analyzing capillary phenomena in such configurations.

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Adsorção de xantatos sobre pirita Adsorption of xanthate on pyrite

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2001
This paper presents a study of adsorption of xanthate with alkyl chain of two (C2XK), four (C4XK) and eight (C8XK) atoms of carbon, on pyrite from Santa Catarina, Brazil. The results showed that pyrite surface changes from hydrophilic to hydrophobic when

Removing Homocoupling Defects in Alkoxy/Alkyl‐PBTTT Enhances Polymer:Fullerene Co‐Crystal Formation and Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Numerical model of surface morphology and solid-liquid contact angle in wire electrical discharge machining

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The workpiece surface after wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) will naturally leave a large number of micro- or sub-micron level discharge pits/protrusions, which will change the solid-liquid contact characteristics, and can be favorable ...

The Case Studies of Varied Switches for the Varied Wheel Profiles of the Railway Vehicle in Terms of the Derailment Phenomena [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Railway Research, 2015
The flange climb derailment is one of the cause of derailment for a typical switch. The derail Insert Page Break for Printingment for the switch is a complex phenomenon since the contact area is changing dynamically.

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

Free-surface phenomena under low- and zero-gravity conditions [PDF]

open access: yes
An apparatus to measure contact angle was constructed to exploit the proposed internal-corner criterion. If 2 alfa is the internal angle between two intersecting vertical planes and gamma is the contact angle, a meniscus at the corner rises to a finite ...

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...
