Estimating the contact angle in very complex rock pores presents some challenges to accurately identify the fluid–rock contact surface. This work presents a methodology to estimate the contact angle formed by the brine–rock and the brine–oil interfaces ...

Adjustment and Measurement of Contact Angle with Electrowetting on a Quartz-Crystal Microbalance
Electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) has been widely exploited as an actuating force to manipulate liquids by surface tension and modulation of the contact angle on a microscale.

This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Contact Angle Hysteresis on Superhydrophobic Stripes
We study experimentally and discuss quantitatively the contact angle hysteresis on striped superhydrophobic surfaces as a function of a solid fraction, $\phi_S$.

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Gravity-driven draining of a thin rivulet with constant width down a slowly varying substrate [PDF]
The locally unidirectional gravity-driven draining of a thin rivulet with constant width but slowly varying contact angle down a slowly varying substrate is considered.
