Critical Dynamics of Contact Line Depinning [PDF]

open access: yesMRS Proceedings, 1994
ABSTRACTThe depinning of a contact line is studied as a dynamical critical phenomenon by a functional renormalization group technique. In D = 2 - ∈ “line” dimensions, the roughness exponent is ζ = ∈/3 to all orders in perturbation theory. Thus, ζ = 1/3 for the contact line, equal to the Imry-Ma estimate for equilibrium roughness. The dynamical exponent

Dissipation in dynamics of a moving contact line [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2001
The dynamics of the deformations of a moving contact line is studied assuming two different dissipation mechanisms. It is shown that the characteristic relaxation time for a deformation of wavelength $2π/|k|$ of a contact line moving with velocity $v$ is given as $τ^{-1}(k)=c(v) |k|$.

Experimental Study and Simulation-Based Criterion for Stamping Skid Line

open access: yesMachines, 2022
Skid lines on the outer panels of automobiles seriously affects their appearance and are a common surface manufacturing defect. In the die and process design stages, numerical simulation is needed to predict skid lines to take prevention measures ...

Catenoid Stability with a Free Contact Line [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2015
Contact-drop dispensing is central to many small-scale applications, such as direct-scanning probe lithography and micromachined fountain-pen techniques. Accurate and controllable dispensing required for nanometer-resolved surface patterning hinges on the stability and breakup of liquid bridges.

Identification and utilization of copy number information for correcting Hi-C contact map of cancer cell lines

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2020
Background Hi-C and its variant techniques have been developed to capture the spatial organization of chromatin. Normalization of Hi-C contact map is essential for accurate modeling and interpretation of high-throughput chromatin conformation capture (3C)

Dynamic Behaviors of Contact Lines on Micropillared Hydrophobic Surfaces

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2016
The dynamic characteristics of contact lines on inclined micropillared surfaces were investigated in this paper. It was observed that the contact lines varied gradually to a ladder shape with the droplet sliding on micropillared surfaces under Wenzel ...

Construction of Deep Contact Fatigue Curves for Surface-Hardened Gear Wheels

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2022
Laws of fatigue resistance changes of surface-hardened toothed gears are established. It is shown that the main criterion of serviceability of gear wheels of transmissions of power-saturated machines is deep contact pitting of active surfaces of teeth ...
