Double pendulum contact problem

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2014
The work concerns contact problems focused on biomechanical systems modelled by a multibody approach. The example is modelling of impact between a body and an infrastructure. The paper firstly presents algorithm for minimum distance calculation.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Contact drying of particulate pharmaceuticals: modelling and simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In order to give a concrete response to the need of predictive contact drying simulation tools in pharmaceutical industry, simulation programs for contact drying of pharmaceutical powders were developed in this thesis work.

Experimental validation of tire rolling contact pressure distribution by three-dimensional elastic ring model with pseudo-hysteresis characteristics

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
The contact characteristic of a tire is fundamental property that significantly influences handling stability, ride comfort, and environmental performance such as rolling resistance and wear. Although it has been experimentally confirmed that the rolling

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

The loaded surface profile: a new technique for the investigation of contact surfaces

open access: yes, 2006
Contact between rough surfaces produces a complex contact profile. The contact area is usually estimated according to roughness statistics in conjunction with surface models or by examining the surfaces before and after contact.
