Changing the ideological roots of prejudice: Longitudinal effects of ethnic intergroup contact on social dominance orientation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) has been reported to be strongly related to a multitude of intergroup phenomena, but little is known about situational experiences that may influence SDO.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Sensory Contact Model: Protocol, Control, Applications

open access: yes, 2009
Among the models that become more and more popular in behavioral neuroscience are biosocial models, which allow studying the consequences of chronic social conflicts and social stress in animals. The sensory contact model appears to represent one of such

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Contact mechanics modelling of articular cartilage and applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease of articular cartilage. The normal cartilage is known to be an excellent bearing material with remarkable lubricating properties and very low frictional co-efficient and wear and generally survives the ...

Calculation and Analysis of the Electrical Contact Resistance of the Strap Contacts Used in GIS Equipment Based on the Fractal Model

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2023
Contact resistance of an electrical connection structure (ECR) is an important indicator to evaluate the reliability of the electrical contact system. The strap contact is an important electrical connection component in eco-friendly insulating gas GIS ...
