Extremely Low Mass Ratio Contact Binaries. I. The First Photometric and Spectroscopic Investigations of Ten Systems [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomical Journal, 2022
The photometric and spectroscopic investigations of ten contact binaries were presented for the first time. It is discovered that the mass ratios of all the ten targets are smaller than 0.15, they are extremely low mass ratio contact binaries.

On contact numbers in random rod packings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Random packings of non-spherical granular particles are simulated by combining mechanical contraction and molecular dynamics, to determine contact numbers as a function of density. Particle shapes are varied from spheres to thin rods.

Influence of the cylindrical gear pairs parameters to the transverse contact ratio

open access: yesVojnotehnički Glasnik, 2014
In the field of transmission and power transformation from the power engine to the working machine, gear pairs, are mostly used in mechanical engineering due to their compactness of the structure, high reliability and capacity.

Effects of ITO Contact Sizes on Performance of Blue Light MicroLEDs

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2022
In this study, the effect of ITO contact ratio for blue light micro-light-emitting diode (µLED) with dimensions 40 μm × 40 μm was assessed. The contact ratio from 0.2 to 0.8 was designed for the ratio of electrode area to light-emitting area.

Low Mass Ratio Contact Binary V410 Aur and V776 Cas - II [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2005
New BVR CCD light curves of the low mass ratio contact binaries, V410 Aur and V776 Cas, were observed with the 61 cm reflector and a 2K CCD camera at the Sobaeksan Astronomical Observatory.

Design of high-reduction hypoid gears meshing in plane of action

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2017
This paper proposes a method of directly designing the surface of action of a hypoid gear. In the proposed method, the characteristics of the gear meshing are independent of the manufacturing process.

Design of Linear Functional Noncircular Gear with High Contact Ratio Used in Continuously Variable Transmission

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2020
Continuously variable transmission (CVT) of noncircular gear has the technical advantages of large bearing capacity and high transmission efficiency. The key technology of CVT with noncircular gear has been broken through some countries, and is in the ...

Contact Discontinuities in Models of Contact Binaries Undergoing Thermal Relaxation Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In this paper we pursue the suggestion by Shu, Lubow & Anderson (1979) and Wang (1995) that contact discontinuity (DSC) may exist in the secondary in the expansion TRO (thermal relaxation oscillation) state.

Mass-Ratio Determination in Contact Binaries [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1974
In the wake of recent theoretical work on contact systems (e.g. Whelan, 1972; Biermann and Thomas, 1972; Lucy, 1968), it is of importance to determine fundamental data from observations. This has been done recently by several groups in analysing light curves (Mochnacki and Doughty, 1972; Hutchings and Hill, 1973; Wilson and Devinney, 1973), and it is ...
