Study of interfacial stiffness ratio of a rough surface in contact using a spring model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This study proposes the use of a simple spring model that relates the interfacial stiffness with the complex reflection coefficient of ultrasound in a rough contact.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

High Contact Ratio Design and Meshing Performance Comparison for Spiral Bevel Gear

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2022
In order to improve the meshing performance of spiral bevel gears, a novel design method of large contact ratio along face width contact path is proposed.

Shear Failure of Bolted Joints considering Mesoscopic Deformation Characteristics of Rock

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
In rock engineering of the cold region, there are a lot of rock joints. The shear characteristics of joints play a decisive role in the stability of rock engineering in the cold area.

Temperature-dependent contact resistances in high-quality polymer field-effect transistors

open access: yes, 2003
Contact resistances between organic semiconductors and metals can dominate the transport properties of electronic devices incorporating such materials. We report measurements of the parasitic contact resistance and the true channel resistance in bottom ...

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Contact of a spherical probe with a stretched rubber substrate

open access: yes, 2017
We report on a theoretical and experimental investigation of the normal contact of stretched neo-Hookean substrates with rigid spherical probes. Starting from a published formulation of surface Green's function for incremental displacements on a pre ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Performance enhancement of normal contact ratio gearing system through correction factor

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2019
As lined, higher transmission ratio drives system will have uneven stresses in the root region of the pinion and wheel. To enrich this agility of uneven stresses in normal-contact ratio (NCR) gearing system, an enhanced system is desirable to be ...

Numerical study concerning the influence of contact ratio at helical involute gears [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
In the present paper some aspects of the influence of the overlap ratio of the gear set on its dynamic comportment was studied. In this aim, the values of angular acceleration of two helical involute gear sets having the same characteristics - excepting ...
