Simulation of multi-contact wave strain hardening [PDF]
The article raises the problem of reducing pressure in the deformation zone during hardening of plastic materials by shock pulses. It is proposed to use the method of wave strain hardening and its multi-contact loading scheme as its solution.

OPTIMISATION PROCEDURE OF INNER GEOMETRY IN SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARINGS WITH REGARD TO THEIR DURABILITY [PDF]
This article deals with an optimisation procedure of inner geometry of rolling elements designed for spherical roller bearings. A process of selection of the most appropriate solution to increase spherical roller bearing durability is understood under ...

Quasistatic Viscoelasticity with Self-Contact at Large Strains [PDF]
The frame-indifferent viscoelasticity in Kelvin-Voigt rheology at large strains is formulated in the reference configuration (i.e. using the Lagrangian approach) considering also the possible self-contact in the actual deformed configuration. Using the concept of 2nd-grade nonsimple materials, existence of certain weak solutions which are a.e ...

Internal contact modeling for finite strain topology optimization [PDF]
The present work proposes an extension of the third medium contact method for solving structural topology optimization problems that involve and exploit self-contact. A new regularization of the void region, which acts as the contact medium, makes the method suitable for cases with very large deformations.

Contact of Rough Surfaces: An Incremental Model Accounting for Strain Gradient Plasticity
In the contact of rough surfaces, most contact patches are at the scale of micrometers, and thus, their contact deformation can be dominated by the size-dependent plasticity. In this paper, we propose a new strategy to analyze the role of strain gradient

First-contact-breaking distributions in strained disordered crystals
We derive exact probability distributions for the strain ($ε$) at which the first stress drop event occurs in uniformly strained disordered crystals, with quenched disorder introduced through polydispersity in particle sizes. We characterize these first stress drop events numerically as well as theoretically, and identify them with the first contact ...

Indentation measurements are a crucial technique for measuring mechanical properties. Although several contact models have been developed to relate force-displacement measurements with the mechanical properties, they all consider simplifying assumptions,

Dynamic finite element simulation of wheel–rail contact response for the curved track case
The wheel–rail interaction will be intensified on account of the complexity of the wheel–rail contact geometry on a curved track. It also may become more complicated and/or have significant difference as the train speed increases, since the dynamic ...
