Linear strain hardening in elastoplastic indentation contact
Journal of Materials Research, 2003Finite-element analyses for elastoplastic cone indentations were conducted in which the effect of linear strain hardening on indentation behavior was intensively examined in relation to the influences of the frictional coefficient (μ) at the indenter/material contact interface and of the inclined face angle (β) of the cone indenter.

Dynamic strain measurements in a sliding microstructured contact
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2007A novel experiment is described which measures the tangential strain development across the contact between a PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) block and a glass surface during the initial stages of sliding. The surface of the PDMS block has been microfabricated to take the form of a regular array of pyramidal tips at 20??m separation.

The Contact Adhesion of Self-Adhesive Strain Gauges
The Journal of Adhesion, 1969Abstract Thin pieces of flexible polymers may be adhered to rigid substrates merely by pressing the two surfaces into intimate contact. The peel strength of the bond is poor, but the shear strength can be sufficiently high for strain gauge operation. This paper offers an explanation for the adhesion which can account quantitatively for the behaviour of

A contact stress sensor based on strain gauge
Instruments and Experimental Techniques, 2015In this paper a sensor with flexible strain gauge is proposed. The sensor can monitor the contact stress between two surfaces in some extreme environments such as thin slits. The force sensitive element inside the sensor is made up of film grid, supporting layer with holes and deforming layer for smoothing load.

NON CONTACT AND WHOLE FIELD STRAIN ANALYSIS WITH A LASEROPTICAL STRAIN SENSOR
1999Abstract A novel laseroptical strain sensor enables non contact and full field analysis of displacements and strains of specimen without marking. The sensor uses the principle of laser-speckle-interferometry. The specimen is illuminated with infrared laser light and observed with a high resolution video camera.

Contact strain, circulation cells and disharmonic folding
Tectonophysics, 1980Abstract Finite element models are used to investigate the deformations in the incompetent material surrounding one or more buckling rock layers. The contact strain is found to decay away from the buckling layer as a periodically modified exponential function. The deformations are found to form definite circulation cells.

Schottky contact-based strain-gauge elements
Proceedings of the 1992 International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Control, Instrumentation, and Automation, 2003The author presents the results of investigations of Schottky contact-based silicon strain-gauge elements. The sensitivity of the strain gauge elements to deformation and temperature is shown to be essentially connected with the degree of imperfection of the silicon layer near the surface.
