Thermal resistances of pressed contacts
Applied Energy, 1986Abstract Contacts between two surfaces under mechanical load occur frequently in numerous structures, yet their behaviour when heat is transferred across them is usually not fully appreciated. The present review is aimed at assisting the designer in understanding the intricacy of this problem and the factors involved.

Thermal resistance of metallic contacts
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1964Abstract A calculation method for thermal resistance of a contact between two rough metal surfaces with different compressing forces and quality of finishing is considered. The results of analytical calculation are correlated with experimental data.

Alleviating Thermal Resistances of Thermally Distorted Pressed Contacts
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Mechanical Engineering Science, 1987A suite of interactive computer codes, described previously, for simulating the heat-transfer behaviours of pressed contacts between dissimilar materials has been used to examine how thermal contact resistances may be minimized by: (a) optimizing the roughnesses of the contacting ...

CAE/CAD and Thermal Management Issues in Electronic Systems, 1997
Abstract The thermal contact resistance at the interface of a bolted joint was investigated analytically, experimentally and numerically. Consideration was restricted to an ideal two-plate model for which the interface was perfectly flat. The two bolted plates made circular contact under uniform axisymmetric normal loading. The effect of

Thermal contact resistance of cured gel polymeric thermal interface material
The Ninth Intersociety Conference on Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena In Electronic Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37543), 2004This paper reports the experimental results on the contact resistance of curable polymer gel thermal interface materials (TIM's) that have different mechanical properties due to difference in the rheology of the polymers. A semi-analytical model for the prediction of the thermal contact resistance of cured gel TIM's is also introduced in this paper.

Transient thermal contact resistance
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1991Abstract The short-time asymptotic solution for the heat flow between two similar bodies placed in contact has recently been given by Barber. The long-time asymptotic solution is given here: it has exactly the same form as the short-time asymptote Q KT 0 = C 0 + C 1 √(παt) but, in general, has different coefficients.

Thermal resistance (Rth) enhancement by optimizing TO package thermal contact
2010 34th IEEE/CPMT International Electronic Manufacturing Technology Symposium (IEMT), 2009The trend for package size shrinkage has created challenges to thermal performance while improving the cost performance. When TO package size shrink by minimizing the leadframe copper usage, challenges in package warpage and thermal contact become great.

Reducing thermal contact resistance using nanocoating
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2014Abstract Thermal contact resistance (TCR) between solid and solid is a very important phenomenon in many application fields including power generation, refrigeration systems, air conditioning, manufacturing, aerospace etc. The purpose of this paper is to understand and quantify the effect of the aluminum nanocoating on the TCR.

Thermal contact resistance in injection molding
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1990AbstractThis paper describes a method for obtaining the thermal contact resistance (TCR) between an injection molded part and its mold. Due to the absence of TCR the simulated cooling times obtained from Polycool II, a computer aided engineering (CAE) package for cooling simulation of injection molding, have compared poorly with both field and ...

Electro-thermal analysis of contact resistance
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018Electro-Mechanical characterization over copper samples are performed at the macroscopic level to understand the dependence of electrical contact resistance and temperature on surface roughness and contact pressure. For two different surface roughness levels of samples, six levels of load are selected and varied to capture the bulk temperature rise and
