Numerical simulation of underwater contact explosion

Applied Ocean Research, 2012
Abstract Underwater contact explosion involves lots of complex issues such as high speed, strong compression, large deformation and density ratio, multi-phase flow, etc., which makes the numerical simulation extremely difficult. In this paper, a modified SPH approach based on volume approximation is applied and the entire process of shock wave ...

Calculation of contact stresses in axisymmetric underwater explosions

Journal of Soviet Mathematics, 1992
The problem of an underwater electrical explosion in a long layered elastoplastic cylinder is solved. The solution is obtained numerically with use of artificial viscosity. The law for energy produced by the explosion is determined experimentally and residual stresses are determined by the establishment method. Contact stress is presented as a function

Underwater Demolition of Steel Rods by Contact Explosions

31st International Symposium on Ballistics, 2019
This research is dedicated to the effect of underwater contact explosions on steel rods. The work is inspired by problems the Dutch Army Engineers experienced with the effective demolition of steel structures under water. Selected parameters which could affect incomplete demolition were investigated experimentally.

Dynamic Response of Stiffened Plate under Underwater Contact Explosions

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
In order to study the dynamic responses of stiffened plate under underwater contact explosions, the FEM code LS-DYNA is used to discuss the problem, six different stiffened plates are included. The stiffened plate’s distortion, the size of crevasses in the numerical simulation are analyzed.

Dynamic response of the non-contact underwater explosions on naval equipment

Marine Structures, 2011
Abstract Shock resistance capacity of the shipboard equipment especially for large ones, has been a strong concern of navies all over the world for a long time. The shipboard equipment have previously generally been studied separate from hull structure before.

Destroy Probability of Ship Defensive Structure Subjected to Underwater Contact Explosions

Advanced Materials Research, 2008
The reliability of ship defensive structure subjected to underwater contact explosions is important both in theory and engineering. Because of the complex response of structure under explosions in which the fluid-structure-interaction should be considered, the problem under discussion could not be solved by analytical method.

Damage prediction of clamped circular plates subjected to contact underwater explosion

International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2001
Contact explosion damage prediction of circular steel plates is of interest to the naval architects and warship designers. During contact explosion, a fraction of the explosive energy goes for plastic deformation and fracture of the plate. Experiments were conducted on air backed circular high strength low alloy (HSLA) steel plates to establish this ...
