The Pathophysiological Role of Heat Shock Response in Autoimmunity: A Literature Review

open access: yesCells, 2021
Within the last two decades, there has been increasing evidence that heat-shock proteins can have a differential influence on the immune system. They can either provoke or ameliorate immune responses.

Virulence and the heat shock response

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2003
The major adaptive response to elevation in temperature is the heat shock response that involves the induction of many proteins--called heat shock proteins. These include chaperones, proteases, alternative sigma factors and other regulatory and structural proteins.

Spallation Characteristics of Single Crystal Aluminum with Copper Nanoparticles Based on Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
In this study, the effects of Cu nanoparticle inclusion on the dynamic responses of single crystal Al during shockwave loading and subsequent spallation processes have been explored by molecular dynamics simulations.

Unraveling Anisotropy in Crystalline Orientation under Shock-Induced Dynamic Responses in High-Entropy Alloy Co25Ni25Fe25Al7.5Cu17.5

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
Shock-induced plastic deformation and spall damage in the single-crystalline FCC Co25Ni25Fe25Al7.5Cu17.5 high-entropy alloy (HEA) under varying shock intensities were systematically investigated using large-scale molecular dynamics simulations. The study

The Fiscal Response to Revenue Shocks [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2021
AbstractWe study the impact of fiscal revenue shocks on local fiscal policy. We focus on the very volatile revenues from the immovable property gains tax in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, and analyze fiscal behavior following large and rare positive and negative transitory revenue shocks.

Influence of multiple structural parameters on buffer performance of a thin‐walled circular tube based on the coupling modeling technique

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, 2022
Pyrotechnic devices are widely used in the aerospace and defense industries. However, these devices generate high‐frequency and high‐amplitude shock responses during their use, compromising safe operation of the system.

Thermodynamics of Heat-Shock Response [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2000
Production of heat shock proteins are induced when a living cell is exposed to a rise in temperature. The heat shock response of protein DnaK synthesis in E.coli for temperature shifts from temperature T to T plus 7 degrees, respectively to T minus 7 degrees is measured as function of the initial temperature T. We observe a reversed heat shock at low T.

Study on Energy Dissipation Characteristic of Ice-Rich Frozen Soil in SHPB Compression Tests

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
Frozen soil will inevitably bear dynamic loads (impact and blasting) in the construction process in cold regions; the investigation of dynamic energy dissipation characteristic of ice-rich frozen soil is beneficial to optimize blasting parameters and the

Approximate computing of shock response spectrum using reduced impedance method

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2021
This paper presents an approximate computing method of a shock response spectrum induced by a drop-weight shock test. The proposed method is based on a reduced impedance method, and computes the shock response spectrum by synthesizing the vibration ...
