SIMULATION OF CONTAINER TERMINAL OPERATION
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1979Abstract Simulation of container terminal operation oriented on computer-aided design of the terminal is presented. The system of programs realizing this simulation works on the basis of simulation games, during which extremal conditions of work and existance of narrows are monitored. It is build in a modular way, series-parallel connected.

Expansion Planning at Container Terminals
2020Container terminals are highly complex systems where various processes need to interoperate smoothly in order to offer the required level of service at competitive prices. Hence, with changing logistics network structures, higher expected service standards, and increasing transportation demands, container terminals continuously need modification.

Management of Container Delivery in the Container Terminal
2020Container delivery operations in the terminal generally refer to the import full containers, which are the main targets container delivery operations in the container terminal. For the import full containers, the container delivery operations are the second stage of the whole import operation processes, and the first stage is the vessel unloading ...

Interblock Crane Deployment in Container Terminals
Transportation Science, 2002We consider the problem of scheduling the movements of cranes in a container storage yard so as to minimize the total unfinished workload at the end of each time period. The problem is formulated as a mixed-integer linear program, and the computational complexity ofthe problem is analyzed. A Lagrangian decomposition solution procedure is described.

Optimizing the Movement of Containers on the Yard of a Maritime Container Terminal
2018The present paper presents the Internal Delivery Vehicle Synchronization Problem which seeks to manage the available fleet of internal delivery vehicles on a yard of a maritime container terminal in its container movement operations. The objective of this problem is to obtain the planning of the vehicles optimized in terms of working time.

Potential of container terminal operations for RoRo terminals
2022Purpose: With the increasing environmental pollution due to the growing freight transportation, the roll-on roll-off (RoRo) transport is considered one of the most promising alternatives in short sea shipping to the dominant pure road transport.

Container Rehandling at Maritime Container Terminals
2011In this paper, we review recent contributions dealing with the rehandling of containers at maritime container terminals. The problems studied in the paper refer to a post-stacking situation, i.e. problems arising after the stacking area has already been arranged.

The container terminal community
Maritime Policy & Management, 2001Over the past 30 years, technological developments have not only affected the design and operation of the port function, but also the organizational and institutional relationships within the port community. Two inter-organizational interaction models are presented, drawing on the findings of over 200 in-depth interviews with senior managers ...

An Ontology for Container Terminal Operations
2014In this paper we describe the desctop ontology for container terminal operations. It is a semantic-based representation of the main functions of a container terminal, in order to formally represent the operational flows which the terminal operators should be supported in.
