Container Terminal Operations

2017
Container vessels are scheduled to visit a set of container terminals along their route. Import containers will be unloaded from the vessel while export containers will be loaded at each terminal. Pavements for Container Terminals

2020
The pavement of container terminals requires high investment costs. In case its design is not appropriate to subsoil conditions and load impacts, any necessary reconstruction is time-consuming and costly. The latter also implies to an overdesign of the pavement. After a compilation of terminal equipment loads, the chapter gives an overview of practical

Dwell times of containers to container terminals

2014
The development of dwell times of imported containers to the hinterland at seaport container terminals is analyzed. A case is developed where containers are transported from a major seaport container terminal in the Netherlands to its nearby hinterland through a multimodal hinterland network controlled by an intermodal inland carrier.

Sea Container Terminals [PDF]

open access: possible, 2014
Due to a rapid growth in world trade and a huge increase in containerized goods, sea container terminals play a vital role in globe-spanning supply chains. Container terminals should be able to handle large ships, with large call sizes within the shortest time possible, and at competitive rates.

Container Terminal Environment

2019
The three main operational areas of a container terminal, namely the waterside, yard and landside area, are briefly sketched in order to enable a basic understanding of the processes relevant for the analysis in subsequent chapters. Main planning problems, which occur in the three operational areas, are introduced and described, respectively.
