Pacific Northwest logistics patterns : the Port of Prince Rupert as a successful national getaway strategy. [PDF]

open access: yes
DTRT07-G-0010The Port of Prince Rupert is developing a significant marine container terminal (2 million TEUs by 2012). This portwill be the closest major port to Southeast Alaska, and co-located with the terminus, and only Canadian port of theAlaska ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

A Simulation based model for the berth allocation and quay crane assignment problem

open access: yes
With the global development of container transport, container terminals have become important nodes in transport networks which serve as hubs for the transshipment of containerized goods from ship to ship or from ship to other transport modes.

Optimization of chassis reallocation in doublestack container transportation system [PDF]

open access: yes
Cost efficiencies associated with double stacking truck containers on flatbed railcars have motivated carriers to increase their involvement in intermodal freight transportation.

Modeling and Optimization of Container Drayage Problem with Empty Container Constraints across Multiple Inland Depots

open access: yes
Container drayage involves the transportation of containers by trucks. Although the distance is relatively short compared to maritime and rail transport, container drayage accounts for 25% to 40% of the total container transportation costs and ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
