Multidimensional Perspective on the Quality of Green Onion: Between the Visible, the Measurable, and the Perceived

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
This graphical abstract presents a five‐phase framework to define green onion quality by integrating literature evidence, physicochemical and bioactive data, digital trends, field damage observations, and consumer perception, providing a multidimensional and measurable quality assessment.

Emotional and attitudinal responses to social media depictions of human–wildlife interactions at wildlife tourist attractions

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Wildlife tourist attractions (WTAs) can permit interactions between humans and wildlife that are detrimental to the animals’ welfare and species conservation. Social media portraying human–wildlife interactions could affect people's perceptions of their acceptability and desirability or stimulate demand for detrimental practices.

Development of a Four‐Language Questionnaire to Investigate Environmental Risk Factors for the Development of Canine Atopic Dermatitis and to Monitor Disease Course and Progression

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 1, Page 34-44, February 2026.
Background: The chronic and multifactorial character of canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) often leads to poor disease control and treatment dissatisfaction. Environmental factors are likely to contribute to the disease development and may play a more important role than assumed previously.

Trait‐mediated effects driven by an invasive herbivore alter functionally diverse plant–frugivore interactions

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 216-228, January 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Fruit traits play a fundamental role in mediating plant‐frugivore interactions, shaping seed dispersal dynamics. Given the complexity of multi‐species interactions, these traits and, consequently, plant‐frugivore interactions can be indirectly influenced by third‐party ...

Species functional traits affect regional and local dominance across western Amazonian forests

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 1, January 2026.
Dominant tree species in western Amazonian forests show distinct functional trait combinations linked to habitat type: conservative traits in stressful habitats and greater plant size in less stressful environments. Local dominants are defined by resource conservation strategies and widespread dominants are defined by resource acquisition strategies. A

Other Conservation Strategies in Colombia: A practical approach

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 4, October–December 2025.
OCS as a strategy to achieve CBD target 3. Abstract This paper introduces a practical and locally grounded conservation model called Other Conservation Strategies (OCS), developed in Caldas, Colombia, as a flexible alternative to traditional protected areas and internationally recognized Other Effective Area‐Based Conservation Measures (OECMs).

Language barriers in conservation science citation networks

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 5, October 2025.
Abstract Using relevant scientific evidence is crucial to effectively conserve species and ecosystems worldwide. Currently, evidence that is available only in non‐English languages is severely underutilized. We examined many underutilized non‐English languages in the conservation evidence literature and factors that facilitate the use of non‐English ...
