MANUFACTURING OF A VISCOMETER FOR MONITORING OIL CONTENT IN POLLUTED WATER

open access: yesHolos, 2013
Petroleum activities have been frequently associated to environmental damage due to occurrence of oil spill in worldwide sea waters. In addition to this problem it must be considered that many non-petrol companies process oil derivatives and discharge ...

Monitoring of argon content in materials

open access: yesRevista de Investigación de Física, 2013
It is reported the possibility of monitoring the presence of argon in the surface layer of materials using the fluorescent emission of characteristic K X-rays of argon by irradiation of the surface of the materials with low energy X-rays. The low energy of these characteristic X-rays, 2,97 keV, makes possible to monitor the presence of argon down a ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Online monitoring of phytate content in plant residuals during wet-treatment

open access: yesScientific Reports
The occurrence of organically bound phosphorus (P) as phytate in plant-based feeding material is a challenge for livestock farming due to limited utilization during the digestion by the animal.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).
