Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Quality of Context in Context-Aware Systems

open access: yesEAI Endorsed Transactions on Context-aware Systems and Applications, 2017

Personalising Context-Aware Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The immaturity of the field of context-aware computing means that little is known about how to incorporate appropriate personalisation mechanisms into context-aware applications. One of the main challenges is how to elicit and represent complex, context-dependent requirements, and then use the resulting representations within context-aware applications

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Using Rough Sets to Improve Activity Recognition Based on Sensor Data

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Activity recognition plays a central role in many sensor-based applications, such as smart homes for instance. Given a stream of sensor data, the goal is to determine the activities that triggered the sensor data.
