The evaluation of boundary‐layer turbulence in high‐resolution numerical weather prediction simulations using Doppler lidar

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
A new method compares both kilometer and sub‐kilometre weather model simulations with Doppler lidar observations to assess the representation of boundary‐layer turbulence. While bulk boundary‐layer properties are well represented, vertical velocity variance is strongly underestimated in both simulations.

On the fundamental theorem of asset pricing: random constraints and bang-bang no-arbitrage criteria [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper generalizes and refines the Fundamental Theorem of Asset Pricing of Dalang, Morton and Willinger in the following two respects: (a) the result is extended to a model with portfolio constraints; (b) versions of the no-arbitrage criterion based ...

From Flybys to Sample Return: A Review of Space Probes and Robotic Sampling Technologies for Small Bodies

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As a crucial puzzle piece of deep space exploration, exploring small bodies can provide significant scientific insights and valuable mineral resources. Unlike missions to the Moon and Mars, small‐body missions pose distinct technical challenges, including communication delays, weak gravity, and uncertain environments. This paper reviews a full

On the Existence of Efficient Hedge for an American Contingent Claim: Discrete Time Market [PDF]

open access: yes
We show the existence of efficient hedge strategies for an investor facing the problem of a lack of initial capital for implementing a (super-) hedging strategy for an american contingent claim in a general incomplete market.

Investigating the Environmental Impact of Additive Construction: A Systematic Analysis of the Life Cycle Assessment Studies

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Additive Manufacturing (AM) has been identified as a potential catalyst for a paradigm shift within the construction industry, due to its capacity to enhance sustainability, reduce waste, and augment design flexibility. This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) that explores the application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in ...

A Preventive Static Security Control Strategy for Distribution Networks Based on Phase Shifting Transformer Loop‐Closing Devices

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, EarlyView.
As the share of renewable energy in the energy mix continues to increase, the penetration of distributed renewable generation in distribution networks is also rising steadily. Loop‐closing operation provides an effective means to enhance renewable energy accommodation across different grid partitions.

Generalizing trade-off deirections in multiobjective optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We consider a general multiobjective optimization problem with five basic optimality principles: efficiency, weak and proper Pareto optimality, strong efficiency and lexicographic optimality.

Robust Optimization of Currency Portfolios [PDF]

open access: yes
We study a currency investment strategy, where we maximize the return on a portfolio of foreign currencies relative to any appreciation of the corresponding foreign exchange rates. Given the uncertainty in the estimation of the future currency values, we
