Euler sine product and the continued fraction of π [PDF]

open access: yesNotes on Number Theory and Discrete Mathematics
The Euler sine product and the continued fraction of π are discussed in this article. Some of the infinite series for cotangent and its derivative are obtained by implementing the concept of Euler sine product and some of the standard series are derived ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

A Wirsing-type approach to some continued fraction expansion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2005
Chan (2004) considered a certain continued fraction expansion and the corresponding Gauss-Kuzmin-Lévy problem. A Wirsing-type approach to the Perron-Frobenius operator of the associated transformation under its invariant measure allows us to obtain a ...

Representation of a quotient of solutions of a four-term linear recurrence relation in the form of a branched continued fraction

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2019
The quotient of two linearly independent solutions of a four-term linear recurrence relation is represented in the form of a branched continued fraction with two branches of branching by analogous with continued fractions.

A Theorem on Continued Fractions [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, 1959
One of the outstanding theorems in the theory of continued fractions is the result described by O. Perron, Die Lehre von den Kettenbrüchen (1912, 1929, 1954–7) as the transformation of Bauer and Muir (for brevity I shall call it the BM theorem); this theorem and limiting cases of it give rise to numerous extremely interesting consequences.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A Geometric Representation of Continued Fractions [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Mathematical Monthly, 2014
Inspired by work of Ford, we describe a geometric representation of real and complex continued fractions by chains of horocycles and horospheres in hyperbolic space. We explore this representation using the isometric action of the group of Moebius transformations on hyperbolic space, and prove a classical theorem on continued fractions.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Modular equations of a continued fraction of order six

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2019
We study a continued fraction X(τ) of order six by using the modular function theory. We first prove the modularity of X(τ), and then we obtain the modular equation of X(τ) of level n for any positive integer n; this includes the result of Vasuki et al ...

Matrix Continued Fractions

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 1999
The matrix continued fraction of a function defined by its power series in \({1\over z}\) with matrix coefficients of dimension \(p\times q\) is presented as a generalisation of \(P\)-fraction. The authors give an algorithm to built the above fraction which corresponds to the extension of the Euler-Jacobi-Perron algorithm.
