On the continuity of the adjoint of evolution operators

Quaestiones Mathematicae, 2020
By associating a quasi semigroup to a commutative evolution operator and using techniques from vector measures like the Gel'fand integral and the Radon-Nikodym theorem for Bochner integral, we prove the continuity on [0,+∞) of the adjoint of a certain class of evolution operators.

Modeling and adjoints for continuous systems

Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 1969
Approximate solution of the differential equations of state of continuous systems by various numerical integration schemes is standard practice in trajectory optimization and control work; the resulting truncation error represents the main error in many applications.

Weak‐operator Continuity and the Existence of Adjoints

Mathematical Logic Quarterly, 1999
AbstractIt is shown, within constructive mathematics, that the unit ball B1(H) of the set of bounded operators on a Hilbert space H is weak‐operator totally bounded. This result is then used to prove that the weak‐operator continuity of the mapping T → AT on B1(H) is equivalent to the existence of the adjoint of A.

Three-Dimensional Flow Optimization of a Nozzle with a Continuous Adjoint

International Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Numerical Simulation, 2015
Abstract The article presents results of multi-criteria optimization of air nozzle topology. The optimization in the CFD has been recently developed since equations of flow in porous media were applied among others governing equations.
