Japanese irogane alloys and patination – a study of production and application [PDF]
Japanese metalworkers use a wide range of irogane alloys (shakudo, shibuichi), which are colored with a single patination solution (niiro). This approach allows different alloys to be combined in one piece and patinated, producing a multi-colored piece ...

Progressive refinement rendering of implicit surfaces [PDF]
The visualisation of implicit surfaces can be an inefficient task when such surfaces are complex and highly detailed. Visualising a surface by first converting it to a polygon mesh may lead to an excessive polygon count.

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Role of B2O3 on structure and shear-thinning property in CaO–SiO2–Na2O-based mold fluxes
Most traditional mold fluxes are Newtonian fluids, and their constant viscosity has certain limitations in continuous casting. A new non-Newtonian fluid mold flux with shear-thinning behavior, i.e., a mold flux with a relatively high viscosity at lower ...

An idea of designing novel sensors is proposed by creating appropriate Schottky barriers and vacancies between isomorphous Core‐CuOii/ Shell‐CuOi secondary microspheres and enhancing catalytic and spill‐over effects, and electronegativity via spontaneous biphasic separation, self‐assembly, and trace‐Ni‐doping.

Physical and numerical modelling of a non-stationary steel flow through a subentry shroud with an inner metering nozzle [PDF]
The paper presents new knowledge about physical and numerical modelling of a non-stationary steel flow into a mould through a subentry shroud with an inner, pressed metering nozzle. The physical and numerical modelling was realized under the conditions
