ABSTRACT Aim To establish a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐based diagnostic approach for identifying ‘critical pulpal inflammation’ zones in a rat model of caries‐derived pulpitis. Methodology Caries‐derived pulpitis was induced in the molars of Sprague–Dawley rats using the caries‐derived pulpitis model.

Mesoscale variability of free tropospheric humidity near San Nicolas Island during FIRE [PDF]
Humidity variability at the top of the marine boundary layer (MBL) and in the free troposphere was examined using a variety of measurements taken on and around San Nicolas Island (SNI) during the FIRE IFO in July, 1987. Doppler wind profiler reflectivity

Risk Factors and Clinical Severity in Chronic Venous Disease: A New Look
Genetic factors, such as gender and positive family history, were associated with the occurrence of mild‐stage disease (CEAP C1–3). Obesity, lack of exercise, and working more than 8 h in a sitting or standing position are strongly associated with severe venous disease (CEAP C4–6).

Fish welfare in a changing world: New developments and current challenges
Abstract The welfare of non‐human animals is central to ethical discussions on animal use, with increasing attention to fish welfare across research, aquaria, aquaculture, and fisheries. This paper reviews current theoretical approaches to animal welfare and recent advances in defining and assessing fish welfare since the seminal paper by Huntingford ...

An Efficient Uplink Multi-Connectivity Scheme for 5G mmWave Control Plane Applications
The millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies offer the potential of orders of magnitude increases in capacity for next-generation cellular systems. However, links in mmWave networks are susceptible to blockage and may suffer from rapid variations in quality.

Multipath Parameter Estimation from OFDM Signals in Mobile Channels
We study multipath parameter estimation from orthogonal frequency division multiplex signals transmitted over doubly dispersive mobile radio channels. We are interested in cases where the transmission is long enough to suffer time selectivity, but short ...

Intermittent Auscultation for Intrapartum Fetal Heart Rate Surveillance
Abstract Fetal heart rate surveillance is a standard component of intrapartum care. The fetal heart rate can be evaluated using intermittent auscultation or electronic fetal monitoring. Research that has compared these 2 strategies found them to be equivalent with respect to long‐term neonatal outcomes.
