A Systematic Study of GelMA‐Carbopol Bioinks for High‐Fidelity Extrusion 3D Bioprinting at Physiological Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gonzalez Martinez and collaborators develop a strategy to formulate high performance GelMA‐based bioinks with low solids contents. The resulting bioinks enable 3D bioprinting at 37 °C of high‐fidelity structures with tunable mechanical properties that support high cell viability and function.

Detection of Low-Density Foreign Objects in Infant Snacks Using a Continuous-Wave Sub-Terahertz Imaging System for Industrial Applications

open access: yesSensors
Low-density foreign objects (LDFOs) in foods pose significant safety risks to consumers. Existing detection methods, such as metal and X-ray detectors, have limitations in identifying low-density and nonmetallic contaminants. To address these challenges,

A Fully Defined GelMA‐Based Matrix Allows Fine Tuning of Tissue‐Relevant Biomechanical and Biochemical Cues for Organoid Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fully defined GelMA‐based ECM platform integrates tunable tissue‐relevant stiffness with laminin–entactin biochemical supplementation to support mouse small intestinal organoid growth. Coordinated control of mechanical and biochemical cues promotes robust proliferation, budding morphogenesis, differentiation, and passaging, providing a reproducible ...

Mechanically Compliant, Precision‐Porous Brain Implants Reduce the Foreign Body Reaction and Guide Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores how the brain responds to implants of different properties. Hydrogels with various mechanical properties and pore sizes were implanted in adult rat brains. It is observed that hydrogels with mechanical property closely matched to the brain and 40 µm pore size elicit a pro‐healing response from the brain by modulating the immune ...

Biphasic Co‐Delivery of Curcumin and 5‐FU using 3D‐Printed Dissolving Microneedles for Skin Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Using pixel‐aware digital light processing, the authors created high‐resolution, dissolvable microneedles from a PEGDA/VP matrix. These microneedles encapsulate curcumin and 5‐fluorouracil and dissolve in the skin, co‐delivering drugs directly to tumours.

The development of a continuous and controlled freeze-drying concept for biopharmaceutical unit doses

open access: yes, 2018
Freeze-drying is a well-established formulation technique to improve the stability of biopharmaceuticals which are unstable in aqueous solution. Conventional pharmaceutical freeze-drying is a batch-wise process during which all vials are processed through a sequence of consecutive steps, i.e., freezing, primary drying and secondary drying, until the ...

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.
