Protocol of a randomised controlled trial of real-time continuous glucose monitoring in neonatal intensive care ‘REACT’ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction Hyperglycaemia is common in the very preterm infant and has been associated with adverse outcomes. Preventing hyperglycaemia without increasing the risk of hypoglycaemia has proved challenging.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Continuous glucose monitoring in children with glycogenosis

open access: yesAlʹmanah Kliničeskoj Mediciny, 2017
Rationale: Glycogen storage diseases (GSD, glycogenosis) are a group of hereditary disorders of carbohydrate metabolism that is characterized by excess glycogen accumulation in various organs and tissues due to deficiency or absence of glycogen-splitting

Effect of a single bout of morning or afternoon exercise on glucose fluctuation in young healthy men

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2021
The timing of exercise plays an important role in the effect of the exercise on physiological functions, such as substrate oxidation and circadian rhythm. Exercise exerts different effects on the glycemic response to exercise and meal intake depending on

A Passive Perspiration Inspired Wearable Platform for Continuous Glucose Monitoring

open access: yesAdvancement of science
The demand for glucose monitoring devices has witnessed continuous growth from the rising diabetic population. The traditional approach of blood glucose (BG) sensor strip testing generates only intermittent glucose readings.

How Continuous Monitoring Changes the Interaction of Patients with a Mobile Telemedicine System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The use of continuous glucose monitor changes the way patients manage their diabetes, as observed in the increased number of daily insulin bolus, the increased number of daily BG measurements, and the differences in the distribution of BG measurements ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Subcutaneously implantable electromagnetic biosensor system for continuous glucose monitoring

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMS) are becoming increasingly popular in diabetes management compared to conventional methods of self-blood glucose monitoring systems.

Blood Glucose Prediction Algorithms for Hypoglycemic and/or Hyperglycemic Alerts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensors able to monitor blood glucose concentration continuously (i.e. with a reading every 1-5 min) for several days (up to 7 consecutive days), entered clinical research.

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow
