Constructing Operational Methods for the Continuous Development of Design Concepts

open access: yesSustainability, 2023
The main focus of this article is to understand the process of how students develop design concepts. By analyzing the process of developing design concepts, and through the results of questionnaires and statistical analysis, key factors are identified to provide teachers with ways to assist students in developing sustainable design concepts in the ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Spontaneous generation of eigenvalues

open access: yes, 2005
We show that the action of conformal vector fields on functions on the sphere determines the spectrum of the Laplacian (or the conformal Laplacian), without further input of information.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

On some perturbations of a stable process and solutions to the Cauchy problem for a class of pseudo-differential equations

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2015
A fundamental solution for some class of pseudo-differential equations is constructed by the method based on the theory of perturbations. We consider a symmetric $\alpha$-stable process in multidimensional Euclidean space. Its generator $\mathbf{A}$ is a

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Jensen multifunctions in complex analysis: continuity of plurisubharmonic envelopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The envelopes of functions play essential role in pluripotential theory. In particular, they are used in Perron-Bremermann method to solve the Dirichlet problem: find a homogeneous solution of the Monge-Ampere operator with continuous boundary data.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
