Lifted Proximal Operator Machines [PDF]

open access: yesAAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2018
We propose a new optimization method for training feedforward neural networks. By rewriting the activation function as an equivalent proximal operator, we approximate a feedforward neural network by adding the proximal operators to the objective function

Pediatric Oncology Nursing Competencies in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Scoping Review to Inform Practice, Education, and Research

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Nurses are central to cancer care for children and adolescents, yet no comprehensive synthesis has defined essential core competencies for pediatric oncology nursing (PON) practice internationally, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Divergence-free approach for obtaining decompositions of quantum-optical processes

open access: yes, 2018
Operator-sum representations of quantum channels can be obtained by applying the channel to one subsystem of a maximally entangled state and deploying the channel-state isomorphism.

Pulmonary Dysfunction Is Associated With Sleep Study Abnormalities in Children With Sickle Cell Disease: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pulmonary dysfunction and sleep abnormalities are common in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Whether spirometry abnormalities are associated with polysomnography (PSG) findings remains unclear.

On the Jost Solution and Its Properties of Quantum Difference Equations with Hyperbolic Eigenparameter

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
This work is devoted to get Jost solution by the method of variation of parameters and properties of this Jost solution of a boundary value problem (BVP) depending on an hyperbolic eigenparameter.

Stationary photon-atom entanglement and flow equation

open access: yes, 2007
Stationary photon-atom entanglement is discussed by applying the method of flow equation to the Jaynes-Cummings model. A nonlocal continuous unitary transformation is explicitly constructed and the associated positive operator-valued measures for the ...

On two methods for quantitative unique continuation results for some nonlocal operators [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Partial Differential Equations, 2020
In this article we present two mechanisms for deducing logarithmic quantitative unique continuation bounds for certain classes of integral operators. In our first method, expanding the corresponding integral kernels, we exploit the logarithmic stability of the moment problem.

The Role of Invasive Procedures in the Treatment of Complicated Gastrointestinal Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Gastrointestinal graft‐versus‐host disease (GI GVHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplant is typically managed with medical therapy, but surgery and angioembolization may be warranted in selected cases with life‐threatening complications.

Continuous external momenta in non-perturbative lattice simulations: a computation of renormalization factors

open access: yes, 2003
We discuss the usage of continuous external momenta for computing renormalization factors as needed to renormalize operator matrix elements. These kind of external momenta are encoded in special boundary conditions for the fermion fields.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
