Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Frequency Distribution of Sward Heights and Forage Species Composition in Different Integrated Crop–Livestock Systems

open access: yesGrasses
Sward height is a practical indicator for defining management targets that reflect pasture structure. The complexity of integrated systems, including the coexistence of trees, crops, and livestock, can modify animal grazing distribution and microhabitat ...

Fluxo de biomassa aérea em azevém anual manejado sob duas intensidades e dois métodos de pastejo Aerial biomass fluxes in an Italian ryegrass managed under two grazing intensities and two stocking methods

Rotational Grazing Strategies Minimally Impact Soil Microbial Communities and Carbon Dynamics—A Texas Case Study

open access: yesLand, 2023
The goal of our study was to evaluate the long-term (>12 years) influence of stocking density and herd rotation frequency on plant and soil microbial community and carbon dynamics in three working ranches in Texas.

A jumping index of jumping stocks? An MCMC analysis of continuous-time models for individual stocks

open access: yesJournal of Empirical Finance, 2009
This paper examines continuous-time models for the S&P 100 index and its constituents. We find that the jump process of the typical stock looks significantly different than that of the index. Most importantly, the average size of a jump in the returns of the typical stock is positive, while it is negative for the index.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Recria de cordeiras em pastagem nativa melhorada submetida à fertilização nitrogenada: 1. Dinâmica da pastagem Rearing of lambs in improved native pasture submitted to nitrogen fertilization: 1. Pasture dynamic

Rotational stocking and production of Italian ryegrass on Argentinean rangelands

open access: yes, 2000
The decreased carrying capacity of Argentinian Flooding Pampa rangelands through the reduction of density of C3 grasses may be partially attributed to continuous stocking.

Effects of grazing system and stocking rate on cow-calf performance in the flint hills [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A 6-year study was designed to measure the influences of stocking rate and grazing system on performance of cow-calf pairs grazing tallgrass prairie. This paper summarizes the initial 3 years.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
