Image search using deformable contours

Proceedings. International Conference on Image Processing, 2003
This paper presents the use of deformable templates for image retrieval where a template line drawing sketch can be detected in the target image, irrespective of its position, size, rotation, and smooth deformation transformations. First, potential template positions are found in the target image using a modified version of the generalized Hough ...

Glasses detection and extraction by deformable contour

Proceedings 15th International Conference on Pattern Recognition. ICPR-2000, 2002
To achieve a face recognition system robust to the presence of spectacles, we have developed a spectacle detection and extraction algorithm. The detection is realized using edge information within a small area defined between the eyes. The extraction is achieved with a deformable contour, combining edge features such as strength and orientation and ...

Apparent Contours and their Legendrian Deformations

Moscow Mathematical Journal, 2003
Let \(M\) (resp. \(N\)) be a smooth manifold of dimension \(m\) (resp. a closed, smooth manifold of dimension \(n\)) and \(P\) the real projective space. Let \(PT^*M\) (resp. \(PT^*P\)) be the projectivized cotangent bundle of \(M\) (resp. \(P\)) and \(\{\psi_t\}_{t\in[0,1]}\) a contact isotopy, i.e.

Modeling Bayesian estimation for deformable contours

Proceedings of the Seventh IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, 1999
A novel trainable snake model called EigenSnake, is presented in the Bayesian framework. In the EigenSnake, prior knowledge of a specific object shape, such as that of face outlines and facial features, is derived from a training set of the shape and incorporated into a Bayesian snake model in the form of the prior distribution. Further, a "shape space"

The Use of AlloDerm for the Correction of Nasal Contour Deformities

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2001
What rhinoplasty surgeon has not been frustrated by unmet expectations from unreliable graft materials? The quest for an ideal graft continues. Septal cartilage is not always adequate in amount or substance. Ear cartilage may cause unsightly irregularities over time.

Contouring variability of human- and deformable-generated contours in radiotherapy for prostate cancer

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2015
This study was designed to evaluate contouring variability of human-and deformable-generated contours on planning CT (PCT) and CBCT for ten patients with low-or intermediate-risk prostate cancer. For each patient in this study, five radiation oncologists contoured the prostate, bladder, and rectum, on one PCT dataset and five CBCT datasets.

Recovery of contour deformation using steerable filters

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
A motion-based approach is presented to recovering the nonrigid deformation of free-form curved objects. Protrusions and indentations of contours are typically the results of altering curvature structure along the symmetry axes. The recovery task is formulated as a search for a set of lines of curvature on the spatiotemporal surface.

Calf Augmentation and Correction of Contour Deformities

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1991
In general, augmentation of soft tissue has been a problem for plastic surgeons because of the body's protective mechanisms against foreign material, but silicone rubber implants are the author's choice of the materials currently available. The aesthetic considerations of the shape of the calf and techniques and complications are discussed.

Lip contour extraction using a deformable model

Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2000
The use of visual information from lip movements can improve the accuracy and robustness of a speech recognition system. Accurate extraction of visual features associated with the lips is thus very important. In this paper, we present a deformable model-based technique for lip contour extraction from color lip images. The geometric lip model we propose

Deformable Contour Method: A Constrained Optimization Approach

International Journal of Computer Vision, 2004
In this paper, a class of deformable contour methods using a constrained optimization approach of minimizing a contour energy function satisfying an interior homogeneity constraint is proposed. The class is defined by any positive potential function describing the contour interior characterization.
