Slicing Contour Generation of Z-Constant Contour Machining for Subdivision Surface

open access: yes, 2011
For the Z-constant contour machining, a slicing contour generation procedure for subdivision surface is presented. Subdivision surface defines a smooth surface as the limit of a sequence of successive refinements starting from an initial control mesh. It

Site selection for rainwater harvesting structures in Kiambu County-Kenya

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, 2019
In this study, a geospatial approach has been utilised to identify suitable sites and structures for rainwater harvesting in Kiambu County, Kenya. Based on an integrated use of remote sensing and GIS, ideal sites for five rainwater harvesting structures (

A test method for analyzing the deformation of landslide model

open access: yesEarthquake Research Advances, 2021
In order to study the overall deformation of geotechnical model conveniently, the worksite of landslide bridge foundation reinforced by the front and rear row anti-slide piles in Chenglan railway was taken as an example. On the basis of shaking tabe test

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Identity-guided Face Generation with Multi-modal Contour Conditions

open access: yes, 2022
Recent face generation methods have tried to synthesize faces based on the given contour condition, like a low-resolution image or sketch. However, the problem of identity ambiguity remains unsolved, which usually occurs when the contour is too vague to ...

Contour wavelet diffusion – a fast and high-quality facial expression generation model

open access: yesConnection Science
Facial expressions are important for conveying information in human interactions. The diffusion model can generate high-quality images for clearer and more discriminative faces, but its training and inference time is often prolonged, hampering practical ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
