Existence and uniqueness of solutions for first-order nonlinear differential equations with two-point and integral boundary conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
In this article, we study the existence of solutions to boundary-value problems for ordinary differential equations with two-point and integral boundary conditions. Existence and uniqueness results are obtained by using well known fixed point theorems.

Comments on some recent generalization of the Banach contraction principle

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2016
We study Browder and CJM contractions of integral type. As a result, we give an alternative proof of some recent generalization of the Banach contraction principle by Jleli and Samet.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Large deviations for the largest eigenvalue of an Hermitian Brownian motion

open access: yes, 2012
We establish a large deviation principle for the process of the largest eigenvalue of an Hermitian Brownian motion. By a contraction principle, we recover the LDP for the largest eigenvalue of a rank one deformation of the ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Resistance Rapid Heating of Aluminum Coatings in an Extreme High Vacuum–Adequate Atmosphere for Hot Stamping

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Nonlinear fractional differential equations and inclusions of arbitrary order and multi-strip boundary conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
We study boundary value problems of nonlinear fractional differential equations and inclusions of order $q in (m-1, m]$, $m ge 2$ with multi-strip boundary conditions.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

A Generalisation of Contraction Principle in Metric Spaces

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Applications, 2008
Here we introduce a generalisation of the Banach contraction mapping principle. We show that the result extends two existing generalisations of the same principle. We support our result by an example.

Generalized Ulam-Hyers Stability, Well-Posedness, and Limit Shadowing of Fixed Point Problems for α-β-Contraction Mapping in Metric Spaces

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
We study the generalized Ulam-Hyers stability, the well-posedness, and the limit shadowing of the fixed point problem for new type of generalized contraction mapping, the so-called α-β-contraction mapping.
